When dealing the cards, unlike Classic Solitaire, where some cards are set up face down, you will instead deal the whole deck face up. Deal out eight piles of cards; the first four piles. FreeCell is the second solitaire game I create, before that I created Klondike (or 'classic' solitaire) and I've also made a few card games like Hearts, Spades and Whist. The name of the game, FreeCell, comes from the four free cells in the top-left corner of the game board which can be used to temporarily store cards. The game was invented by Paul Alfille as a modification of an older game. Alfille also created a first FreeCell Solitaire video game in 1978. This card game is a bit different from the standard solitaire game. Freecell solitaire is a variation of solitaire that includes spaces to hold cards, or 'free cells.' The free cells in the upper left act as a maneuvering space. You can use the free cells strategically to transfer all cards from the tableau to the foundation slots. FreeCell Solitaire Game (or play Klondike Solitaire)
Your goal is to win! You win the game when you move all cards to the foundations (the 4 empty piles in the upper right corner). You must start each foundation with an Ace. Then you can place cards of the same suit in ascending order: Ace, 2, 3, 4, .., 10, Jack, Queen and King.
Cards are shuffled and dealt face up on the tableau (the 7 piles in the bottom of the screen). There is no waste or stock, but 4 free cells in the upper left corner.
- Any top card can be played to the foundation of the same suit, in ascending order.
- A top card from one pile can be moved to another, in alternate color and descending order: 9 of Spades, 8 of Hearts, 7 of Clubs..
- Any top card may go to a free cell or an empty pile.
- A free cell only contains one card at a time.
Only the top card is playable. “SuperMove” allows to transfer several ordered cards from one pile to another, using free cells and empty piles as intermediate locations for each single move.
One estimates that nearly every deal is solvable and thus winnable. Since all cards are face up, there is nothing to guess, just to show puzzle logic. Some games require more cleverness and others can be hard and tricky, so it's always a very pleasant and challenging occupation.
